Scholarship

The Utah Associated Garden Clubs, Inc. (UAGC) participates in an annual scholarship program in connection with the UAGC’s parent organization, the National Garden Clubs (NGC).  The UAGC scholarship is open to sophomore, junior, or graduate level students residing within the state of Utah and majoring in landscape architecture, horticulture, agriculture, botany, or a related field.  The UAGC awards a scholarship of $1,000.  The winner will automatically be entered to compete for an NGC scholarship of up to $4,000.  As there are 43 national scholarships available, the Utah winner has a good chance of receiving a total of nearly $5,000.

Applicants on both the state and national level are judged by the same criteria:  academic record, letter of application, honors and extracurricular experience, financial need, and recommendations.  A minimum GPA of 3.25 is required, and the student must be attending school full-time (at least 12 credit-hours undergraduate or 9 credit-hours graduate).  Information and scholarship application materials are posted on the NGC website.  The deadline for application is February 1, and funds are provided for the following school year.  Past winners have included:

2018 Evelyn Linford, Weber State University

2019 Aaron Hoenig, University of Utah

2020 Kali Clarke, Utah State University

2021 Hallee Kinikin, Utah State University

2022 Becca Springer, Utah State University
