On September 26, the Alternative Garden Club enjoyed a garden tour that featured two contrasting garden types. The first was a vegetable garden that makes use of vertical trellising and a special olla watering system. The delicious produce growing in the garden includes melons, tomatoes, figs, berries, grapes, and Asian pears. The second site was an ornamental garden with an Asian theme, featuring a pond, sculptures, and Japanese evergreens. The spacious, shaded patios provided the perfect setting for a delicious potluck meal that included home-grown melons and home-baked treats.
